Have I mentioned that I’m not the biggest fan of salmon?
I’m slowly learning to love it (especially after my Salmon En Croute) yet it seems to be the one thing I never seem to know what to do with. I was racking my brain all day for recipes involving salmon and not a single one was triggering the part of my brain that yells out “You must make this now!”. My partner mentioned salmon patties and suddenly a lightbulb illuminated over my head… why hadn’t I thought of this earlier?!
Salmon Patties:
Makes 4 large or 6 small
- 500 grams skinless salmon fillet
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small shallot, very finely diced
- 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper to taste
Place all of the ingredients, except the salmon, in a food processor and pulse until combined. Stir in the salmon until all the ingredients have incorporated. Shape into patties, about 3/4 inch thick each.
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet on medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot enough add the patties. Fry until they’re just golden, if you like them to be a little rare, otherwise fry until golden-brown, flipping once.
I find it’s best to prepare the fillings for the burger before you cook the patties, as they cook very quickly. You could always bribe ask another member of the household to prepare them for you as the patties are cooking.

Love your photos. Gorgeous G!! How did the patties turn out? I know what you mean about salmon- I love fresh fillets but have had some bad experiences with other types of salmon.
